High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka H.E Masood Imad met with the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, RSP**, USP, ndu, psc. The meeting took place on 10 July 2024, at the Sri Lanka Navy Headquarters.
High Commissioner Masood Imad thanked Vice Admiral Perera and the Sri Lanka Navy for the close collaboration and continued assistance with the Maldives National Defence Force. Both senior officials discussed the rapidly evolving security landscape and the vast range of illicit maritime activities occurring within the region. H.E Masood Imad highlighted the importance paid to maritime security and safety by the government of His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and stressed on the need for further collaboration between the maritime forces of both Maldives and Sri Lanka.
Vice Admiral Perera highlighted the operations conducted by Sri Lanka Navy to counter narcotics and illegal fisheries in the region. Both officials also discussed the importance for real-time intelligence sharing and greater tactical and operational collaboration.
High Commissioner Masood Imad was joined by the Defence Advisor of Maldives in Sri Lanka Colonel Hassan Amir, and Second Secretary – Bilateral, Ms. Aminath Warudha.
